Our Roots
Katie comes from a long line of home gardeners. At her childhood home on Long Island her paternal grandfather designed a botanical water garden and coordinated field trips with local public schools. More on that…
At that same lake-side acre on Long Island, Katie’s dad spent most weekends finding solace in the garden growing perennial flowers and vegetables. One of her earliest gardening memories comes from direct sowing tomato seeds under her dad’s watchful eye. Against John’s admiration for order and symmetry, she spread those seeds wildly across the freshly tilled soil. Whether they sprouted, she can’t remember but either way, she fell in love with the art of planting.
Katie felt compelled to Vermont from an early age - That green license plate caught her eye. She moved to Vermont to attend St. Michael’s College and studied education and French. She went on to complete her UVM Master Gardener Extension Course after spending time in the ephemeral hills and woods at Bolton Valley and later in Cambridge.
At Rewild Gardens our goal is to rely on nature to create and maintain a more enjoyable garden space for you and your local wildlife. We’re flexible on how we get there and will work with you to find a gardening solution that feels right.
To ensure thoughtful, intentional service we work with a limited number of clients each season and prefer to stay close to our own backyard of Cambridge, Jericho, Underhill & Stowe. Booking seasonal cleanups early is encouraged.
